A convenient and powerful way to let your voters, customers or other product evangelists to follow your campaign tour or get updates on your new product releases is to create your own microblogging channel.
A good microblogging service, where I have a profile ready to subscribe to any channel that gives me interesting updates, is Jaiku. Other similar services, but with a slightly different look, feel and bag of tricks, include Twitter and Pownce.
Personally, I like Jaiku the best (might be due to my subconscious patriotic spirit: We are both from Finland).
In addition to letting your users receive updates from your personal profile, Jaiku has recently released a new service which lets anyone to easily create a new Jaiku channel on any topic s/he likes [here]. I just created one and it took me 3 minutes. This enables you to personalize your message to different segments of your voter base. Say, you could create one for the ones that only care for local political issues, and a second one for a different sub group of voters that gives updates on what you think of the developments on the foreign policy front.
If you think you don’t have time for daily or even weekly blogging, now letting voters inside your daily routines on a campaign trail is only a matter of a few text messages a day.
